Classes & Workshops

Weekly classes are offered to the hobbyist in the art of creating a porcelain doll. Instructions are available in the art of cleaning green ware, painting (decorating) porcelain and the proper assembly of the student’s project. For those that are interested in the proper procedures in prepping and pouring the clay as well as how to kiln fire, workshops will be offered on a bi-monthly basis.

Portrait painting technics are offered in advanced painting classes on an as needed basis, where students can gain the skills required to successfully paint a 3-dimensional item with 3-dimensional painting.

Workshops are available for students to learn about wig, shoe and hat making as well as basic instructions in fitting and sewing techniques for exquisite costuming.

Doll repair clinics are available where individuals can bring their prized possessions in need of repair and/or preservation; receive instruction and guidance in making those repairs in a classroom environment with access to the tools and supplies necessary to accomplish the tasks successfully. Because students rarely bring the same type of item and repair to class, all in attendance will benefit in the shared information discussions and instructions.

Classes are currently available Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 4:30pm with a cost of $15 plus materials. Specialty workshops are presented once we have a minimum of 4 confirmed parties interested in a topic and will be scheduled based on an agreed day and time. Currently there is a wait list for people that want to learn how to make a mohair wig. Once we get enough people, we can schedule it.
